Popular belief is that Physical Therapy is reserved only for those who have sustained serious injuries or who have undergone surgeries, and does not have any benefit for the average person who isn't injured in some way.
The truth is that Physical Therapy can help a variety of individuals, and patients who have injuries and previous surgeries are only a small subset of the patients we see here at PT PLUS.
We commonly treat postural dysfunctions; common chronic pain like low back and neck discomfort that was not brought on by an obvious trauma; neurological disorders; balance problems; vertigo and dizziness; and more.
Of course, we also have experience rehabilitating post-surgical patients, as well as treating Workman's Compensation and Motor Vehicle Accident injuries.
See our Services section for more information on the treatment modalities employed here at PT PLUS.
PT PLUS participates with a variety of insurances and most of our patient care is covered by insurance plans, although we also have self-pay options for individuals without insurance or who prefer to pay for therapy themselves.
We also see many patients with insurance plans from out-of-state, and the process works the same; as long as we participate with your insurance company, we are generally able to see you under your out-of-state plan. We may be required to request authorization from the insurance company in order to treat you if your plan is out-of-state, but our office manager will handle all the details. You won't have to worry about a thing.
Please note: it is possible you will be responsible for paying a bill, even when billing through insurance. See our page "Understanding Your Bill" under the Current Patients tab on the main menu.
Wear comfortable, loose clothing. If your problems relate to low back and/or lower extremities, please bring shorts. (We do have spare if you forget!) If related to your shoulder and/or neck, please wear a loose short-sleeve T-shirt.
Certain insurance companies and plans do require a doctor's prescription in order to pay the costs of your Physical Therapy treatments.
YES, you need your doctor to prescribe you Physical Therapy if you have one of the following insurances:
NO, you can call us directly to schedule without a doctor's prescription if you have a Vermont plan with one of the following insurances:
If your doctor has prescribed you Physical Therapy, they will fax us a referral order with your contact information and we will call you to schedule an appointment.
If you have an insurance that does not require a doctor's referral, or you are planning to pay for therapy yourself, you can call us directly at 802-464-3151 to schedule an appointment.
Please note that we sometimes have a waitlist for new patients. If you are scheduling a surgery that requires physical therapy we encourage you to be proactive and schedule well in advance.
