At the start of each new year, Medicare patients are subject to paying a relatively small Medicare deductible.
For 2025, the Medicare Part B deductible is $257.
This means Medicare will not pay any amount towards the first $257 of medical bills you incur.
If you have a secondary insurance such as AARP or Blue Cross Blue Shield, it is possible that they will pay this deductible for you. If you don't have a secondary insurance, it will be your responsibility to fully pay for the first $257 worth of medical bills you incur.
You can usually reach your secondary insurance by looking on the back of your insurance card for the Customer/Member Services phone number.
